Surfer King (2006)

Netflix is a bit slow to add surfing videos to its streaming library. Surfer King, however, is one they added for us Roku box users. I cannot believe I watched the whole movie! One might be tempted to put it in the same category as the legendary cult classic North Shore (1987) because of the description: Surfer boy Robbie from Oceanside, CA moves to Colorado with his mom and gets a job at Water World, a local water park that has a wave pool. But it would be a mistake put the two films in the same category. There was actually surfing in the North Shore! Surfer King was SO bad, like a beginning video class project. It lacked in every area--acting, humor, script, music, camera angles, romantic tension, plot, etc. Then again, maybe because Surfer King was lame it was funny--nothing too serious. Honestly, the above scene is what you need to see and nothing else. It was a good reminder for me of Rodney Dangerfield's "triple lindy" in Back To School. I forgot to mention that Alan Thicke was in Surfer King too!
